Swede
Tasmania's reputation for the sweetest of swedes is due to the cool temperate climate and frosty mornings.
Swede, also known as rutabaga, is related to turnips and, surprisingly, cabbage. Swede suffered in reputation, as food of the poor, in Europe during the war.
Its profile is now on the 'up and up' as its subtle flavour and cooking versatility are appreciated. Swede combines well with turnip, potatoes and carrots.
